Frangelico
Our Brands
Frangelico is the original Italian hazelnut liqueur – a golden liquid, with an indulgent and irresistible taste. Its distinctive monk shaped bottle, complete with a hand tied rope belt around the waist, is a reminder of Frangelico’s authenticity and quality that links the past through to present day.
The home of Frangelico is in Canale, a small country town near Turin in the heart of Piedmont, at the foothills of the Alps in North West Italy. Its origins date back more than 300 years to the presence of early Christian monks living in the area. These monks, whose skills included the production of fine food and drink, are believed to have used the region’s famed wild hazelnuts and other natural flavourings to create the liqueur on which Frangelico is based today.
Its name is also part of the same local legend – an abbreviation of Fra. Angelico, a hermit monk believed to have inhabited the magnificent Piedmont hills during the 17th century.
Taste Frangelico and the whole story falls into place. Wonderful toasted wild hazelnuts, found only in the Italian North, combined with cocoa, vanilla, berries and a host of other natural flavours that make up its smooth, indulgent taste.
