The Marco Negri estate is located in the heart of the Asti region of Piedmont.  It was purchased by Marco Negri, producing its first sparkling wine in 1993.  There are 15 hectares total and 11 hectares are planted with the Moscato grape, known for its grapey, musky aroma.

Although trained as a medical doctor, Marco Negri gave up his practice in order to devote himself full-time to enology.  With the help of Winemaker Donato Lanati, he has succeeded in creating a superb example of Moscato d’Asti.

This Moscato d’Asti is guaranteed fresh because it is literally made to order: the carefully selected, totally ripe grapes are gently pressed, put into stainless steel tanks, and then immediately the temperature is decreased to -2 degrees celsius.  It remains in this semi-frozen state until it is ready to be bottled.  This cold temperature not only intensifies the aromas and tastes, but also shortens the time between fermentation and the product’s release to market.

Marco Negri Moscato d’Asti DOCG wine is made with 100% Moscato bianco grapes.  This pale golden wine is light and elegant with a rich, fruity bouquet and a taste that is beautifully balanced between sweetness and acidity.  Low in alcohol and slightly fizzy, it is delicious and very easy to drink.  It serves as a superb accompaniment to desserts and since it is low in alcohol, is also an excellent aperitif.
